Google Maps Car Hits a Deer, Records Entire Ordeal... →
As you follow the street view scene down Five Points Road in Rush, NY, you can see the deer run out in front of the car, get hit and then see it on the side of the road before the car pulls over. And that’s the end of the Street View data for Five Points Road. Classic. (I know I’m heartless, you don’t have to remind me.) (via Gizmodo)

PETA's Banned Super Bowl Ad  →
NBC rejected the video because of concerns over “rubbing pelvic region with pumpkin,” a woman “screwing herself with broccoli,” and more! Hahahahahahahahah I generally don’t support PETA, but they got me on this one! (via IM)

This is not my thing. My house is so-called new-construction because I’m not interested in having sawdust and gypsum spread around the house every weekend. But with the Superbowl coming, and the…

Survivor: NFL? →
… The Hall of Fame receiver (Michael Irvin) is launching a reality TV show in which 12 “football neophytes” will compete for an impressive grand prize: a spot on the Dallas Cowboys’ training camp roster. Doubt I’ll watch the show… but I kinda like the idea.

Begley: Was Darwin Wrong About Evolution?  →
Some water fleas sport a spiny helmet that deters predators; others, with identical DNA sequences, have bare heads. What differs between the two is not their genes but their mothers’ experiences. If mom had a run-in with predators, her offspring have helmets, an effect one wag called “bite the mother, fight the daughter.” If mom lived her life unthreatened, her offspring have no...

Sounders FC concludes first practice  →
Sounders FC is real now. They came off of the roster and onto the training field at the Seahawks facility in Renton at 10 this morning and were off the field around 11:15. I don’t care if you’re not a soccer fan. After the disasterous 2008 Seahawks season, and the Superbowl a few days away, I need something to look forward to in the sports world. And the Sounders provide it.

Sounders pick goal-scoring forward from Akron →
Sounders FC held onto the top pick and selected Akron goal-scoring forward Steve Zakuani, the Mid-America Conference player of the year. The team has a keeper in Kellar. Now they add a young goal scorer with the #1 pick in the draft. Tough to argue with that thinking. Highlights of Zakuani:

After a tense morning of waiting, there was huge relief for Vendée Globe organizers and competitors this afternoon with the news that Vincent Riou (PRB) had arrived at the scene of VM Matériaux’s capsize at 1421 (GMT) and made contact with Jean Le Cam inside the upturned hull. Ok, that;s a bad day.
